This is charity blanket number 27, plus a couple of earlier editions, that are ready to be wrapped up and sent off to Birth Companions.
I have enough yarn left for quite a few of these but I would like to try some new things too….

As it is now the school holidays here in Scotland I have had a little time to crack on with some crochet:
Still working through my friend’s stash! They yellow palette is really not for me, but the blues are quite peaceful, and they will both keep a small baby warm.
Two long train journeys at the start of the school holidays saw the production of these:
Still working through my friend’s stash!
This is the blue end of the spectrum from my friend’s stash basket:
I did add in some of my own yarn to make up enough for the blanket, including the remains of the second ‘homemakery’ colour pack. The yarns I added were Rico baby classic dk cream, ice blue, smokey blue, turquoise, and petrol. There is some Debbie Bliss baby cashmerino in the mix too – possibly Denim blue and Pool, but I would have to check…
Now this is a colour combination that I would happily repeat…
I was so pleased with the colours of my ‘Orla’ blanket that I set to and made another one almost straight away.
This time I did have to buy some yarn as I had run out of the orange tones.
I went with Sirdar snuggly 451 ‘mousse’ for the lighter orange and Debbie Bliss Rialto dk 23088 ‘apricot’ for the rust colour. I think the rust lifts the whole blanket….
Another foray into my mother’s yarn stash came up with several balls of Wensleydale Longwool in ‘fennel green’. It is a fairly robust yarn in a lovely grey-green colour (more like lichen than fennel!) In my own stash I found some Sirdar Crofter DK in shade 39 ‘Magilly’ which has some grey-green in it, but is lifted by shades of turquoise, blue and cream.
I think they look pretty good together, and the project has contributed to my yarn diet!
I love these colours – hot pinks muted to a lovely warmth with a charcoal background….
Made in James C Brett DK with merino DM23 (charcoal), Rowan wool-cotton Flower and Drops cotton-merino Lavender and Heather.
